Say it's an ease You pack up and leave Head for the coast To find out what it is you're missing I thought I knew you well I thought I saw inside you Why is it that I can't see? Why it is that you must leave? So say goodbye Goodbye but why? Leave now so then You can begin again a new life I thought I knew you well I thought I saw inside you Why is it that I can't see? Why it is that you must leave? Life in L.A. Yea, it's okay The music is hot You say you're going to give it your best shot I thought I knew you well I thought I saw inside you Why is it that I can't see? Why it is that you must leave? I found someone there And he told you where You'll get a chance To show people what you have to share I thought I knew you well I thought I saw inside you Why is it that I can't see? Why it is that you must leave? Why is it that you must leave?

Early morning Saturday Sun brings in a brand new day Don't know how I'll make it Lost her just the other day Couldn't tell me, she couldn't say I don't know how to fake it I remember when you told me That someday you'd go away And even though I knew it Oh I thought that you would stay People walking everywhere Look right at me, they don't care Oh I just can't take it Sun has faded, gone away Looking like it's going to rain I don't know how I'll make it I remember when you told me That someday you'd go away And even though I knew it Oh I thought that you would stay Early morning Saturday Sun brings in a brand new day Don't know how I'll make it Lost her just the other day Oh she couldn't tell me, she couldn't say I don't know how I'll make it I remember when you told me That someday you'd go away And even though I knew it Oh I thought that you would stay Oh I thought that you would stay

Times have gone by fast And the people hate to ask About the present state About the country's fate 'Cause they know what they'll hear It's the same thing every year He just doesn't He just doesn't care He says he's on their side So sincere, how could he lie He has just what it takes Friendly smile, weathered face But they know what they'll hear It's the same thing every year He just doesn't He just doesn't care He says the future's bright Has a vision, sees the light Revives the old, recalls the new But still the people see right through 'Cause they know what they'll hear It's the same thing every year He just doesn't He just doesn't care And they know what they'll hear It's the same thing every year He just doesn't He just doesn't care

Walkin' down the road today I came across a friend He told me a sad, sad story His eyes were red People cryin', people die'n Down in Africa Africa Well that's too bad, but what can I do It's so far away I'm sure, they'll all get help Somehow, someway People cryin', people die'n Down in Africa Africa I walk home from work each day Down that same road Always seems to make me think About what I was told There's people cryin', there's people die'n Down in Africa Africa

I'm on the plane I'm on my way Back home It's been a long time Soon I'll arrive Back home I'm flyin' high Up in the sky Back home Soon I'll come down But not 'till I've found Back home Had a good time It was easy to find Back home Now that I've gone I'm singin' this song About home

about

I moved to California in 1982 to "make it" in the music business as a songwriter. I wrote quite a few songs between 1982 and 1986 at an apartment in Northridge, CA. I never did sell a song, but I really enjoyed learning the process of writing and recording music.

These 10 tracks are my personal favorites from that time period. They were recorded on a Yamaha 4-track cassette recorder and many years later were transferred to CD. In 2014 I had these songs professionally mastered to remove the cassette tape hiss and to improve the audio quality as much as possible.
