about

I hadn’t written or recorded any music since 2004. Writing, and especially recording, had become too much work and required time I didn’t think I had. I also felt that whatever I decided to work on should end up as a professional, finished product I could sell. Because of that, nothing ever got started and my music ideas collected dust.

In September of 2013 I had some vacation time coming. Rather than take a trip somewhere, I decided to use the time to see if I could write some music again. What could I do to get the wheels rolling? Trying to create a perfect CD to sell to others, wouldn’t work. I needed a new angle.

Why don’t I see if I can write and record one song per day for the duration of the vacation? To make it interesting I’ll use only one synthesizer per song. The playing doesn’t have to be perfect, the writing can be simplistic. The purpose of this experiment will be to create ten different songs that I enjoy listening to, in only ten days.

I finished twelve songs in those ten days. Songs are listed in the order they were written/recorded, and the track name indicates the name of the synthesizer I used on that track.

It was the most productive, and enjoyable vacation I've had in a long time... and best of all, I'm writing, recording, and playing again!
